Day 1: Arrival - Yerevan

Arrival at Zvartnots airport in the evening. Transfer and installation at the hotel in Yerevan.

Day 2: Yerevan City Tour


The capital of Armenia, whose birth certificate dates back to 782 BC, is revealed by a cuneiform inscription engraved on a block of basalt found in the citadel of Erebuni.

City tour through the different sites of interest ... Republic Square, Esplanade of the Cascade with the statues of Botero, Opera Square, etc. Visit Matenadaran, the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. It holds one of the world's richest depositories of medieval manuscripts and books.


Visit the Tsitsernakaberd memorial park and the museum of victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. In-depth evocation of the history and actuality of the Genocide.

Day 3: The Garni Gorge: The symphony of stones


Visit the Monastery of Geghard (13th century). World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Continue to the pagan temple of Garni (77 AD) and the only Hellenistic monument on the whole territory of Armenia. Hike to explore the Garni gorge which is known as the “Symphony of Stones” or “Basalt organ”.

Lunch at a local’s house in Garni, where you will discover the Armenian hospitality. Back to Yerevan.

Day 4: The Armenian Vatican


Departure for Etchmiatsin, the Armenian Vatican. In 301, Armenia became the first country to adopt Christianity as a state religion. A cathedral is then built. Visit the ruins of Zvartnots (seventh century), one of the most original masterpieces of Armenian architecture, classified as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Departure for the sites of Khor Virap and the ancient city of Artashat, dominated by Mount Ararat (5165 m and 3925 m.). The city was built between 189 and 188 BC. Continue to the south of the country. A short walk to the nearby hill from which opens a magnificent view of the site and the entire valley of Ararat. Arrival at Yeghegnadzor. Discovery of Armenian hospitality.

Day 5: Petroglyphs dating from 5,000 to 7,000 years BC


Departure to the Syunik region. Visit the megalithic site of Karahundj, one of the oldest observatories in the world (5-7th millennium BC). After the visit, we will take the Russian military 4x4 that will take us to the point of our hike to 2900 meters. Walk to a mountain lake (3200 m), around which are we will find the engraved stones dating from prehistory. Back to the 4x4. Road to the city of Sisian.

Day 6: Hiking in nature in the gorges of Vorotan


Transfer to Ltsen. Walk from the village of Ltsen to the pass of the Syuniats Mountains, from where a magnificent view of the Shamb Reservoir and the Vorotan Gorge opens up. Picnic lunch in the nature. Descent to the village of Tatev, passing by the fields of beautiful flowers. Visit the Tatev Monastery, the most important historical monument of Syunik province. Founded in the ninth century on the site of an ancient sanctuary, the monastery served as a setting for the Tatev University. It has been classified as World Heritage by UNESCO since 1995. Departure for the city of Goris. It is one of the most beautiful cities of Armenia which offers opportunities for walks in the mountain. This small town is famous for its medieval cave-dwellings carved out of the soft rock in the southern and eastern parts of the town.

Day 7: Visit of the cave village of Khndzoresk, 100% troglodyte


Departure for the village Khndzoresk, widely famous for its canyon with picturesque rock formations and ancient cave settlement.  Hike in the old 100% troglodyte dead city dug in volcanic tuffs and inhabited until the beginning of the 20th century. Discover the longest suspension bridge in Armenia. Transfer to Noravank. The canyon is known for its caves, flora and fauna (Panthera paradus saxicolor, bezouare goat, etc.). Visit the monastery of Noravank (IX-XIV century), one of the most remarkable monuments of medieval Armenia. Drive to the village Hermon.

Day 8: Discovery of the Fortress of Smbat, Eghegis and the Church of the Soldiers


Transfer to Artabuynk. Starting point for hiking to the fortress of Smbataberd (tenth century). Continue to the monastery of Tsakhats Kar (10th century).

Picnic lunch.

Hike to Yegheguis, visit the village where you can find a very old cemetery and the church Zorats (14th century). The Zorats church is unique in its architecture among the Armenian churches. It is the only church where a whole army was once blessed. Back to Hermon.

Day 9: The Silk Road, the Caravanserai of Selim


Visit the Caravanserai of Selim (14th century). Built in 1332 by Prince Chesar Orbelian, it is a splendid witness of the past. On the Silk Road, it allowed to connect Persia to the West. Transfer by bus to Noraduz, a medieval cemetery which is famous for a large number of early khachkars. The oldest khachkars in the cemetery date back to the late 10th century.

Lunch at a restaurant overviewing the lake (tasting of fish).

Lake Sevan, "Blue Pearl" of Armenia is located at 2000 m altitude. Surrounded by mountains, it is the second largest freshwater mountain lake in the world. Visit of the peninsula with its monastery.

Day 10: The Monastery of Goshavank


Transfer to the Monastery of Goshavank (X-XIII century). The monastery was founded in 1181 by the renowned monk and jurist, Mkhitar Gosh, author of the first Armenian codex. Hiking from the village to Lake Parz. From the top opens a beautiful panoramic view to the Pambak and Lalvar mountain range. Discover the Lake Parz.

Day 11: Masterpieces of Armenian architecture


Dilijan is a spa town in the Tavush Province of Armenia. Usually called Armenian Switzerland or Little Switzerland by the locals, it is one of the most important resorts of Armenia, situated within the Dilijan National Park. Discover the old district of Dilijan. Continue to Haghpat and Sanahin. Founded in the 10th-13th centuries, these architectural and artistic ensembles are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are among the country's largest cultural and spiritual centers. Departure for Odzoun. This village shelters an architectural site dating probably from the 5th and 6th centuries. Stop at the local’s place where you will receive a warm welcome from the villagers. Participation in the preparation of the traditional barbeque.

Day 12: In the footsteps of the Hermits


Hike from Odzoun to Kobayr monastery. The path served to the monks to access the monastery of Horomayr, built in the Xth-XIIIth Century, and which is accessible only by foot. Visit Kobayr. Bus transfer to Gyumri.

Lunch at a fish farm restaurant.

Depart for the monastery of Marmashen. Visit this great cultural and spiritual center of the tenth century founded by Vahram Pahlavouni. Back to Gyumri. Discover the old district of the city, the Artists Street (Varpetats poghots).

Day 13: The city of arts and crafts

After a last Armenian breakfast, we will take the direction of the Armenian-Georgian border. Change of vehicle and guide. Transfer to Vardzia. Walk in the troglodyte city of Vardzia (XII), overlooking a vast semi-desert canyon. Here, under the reign of Queen Tamar, stood one of the largest urban centers of Georgia. The city extends over 13 floors and houses a troglodyte church in its heart. All connected by extensive galleries dug directly into the cliff.

Depart for Akhaltsikhe. On the road, a stopover to discover the fortress of Khertvisi, which is at the jonction of two rivers. Arrival at Akhaltsikhe.

Day 14: Ancient city of the Kingdom of Colchis (Georgia)

In the morning after breakfast, drive to Borjomi. Short stop at Borjomi Park known for its sparkling water. Continue to the Imereti region (West Georgia). Arrival at Kutaisi, a city that was part of the kingdom of Colchis where Jason and the Argonauts had seized the Golden Fleece.

Discover the monastic complex and educational center of Guélati (twelfth century - Cultural Heritage of Unesco) . Visit the Cathedral of Bagrati (11th century - UNESCO Cultural Heritage) located on Mount Ukimerioni.

Day 15: Troglodyte city located along the Silk Road


During the trip, an emblematic monument will attract our curiosity: the architectural monastic complex of Ananuri. Nestled in its fortress and overlooking an artificial lake, the complex, dating from the sixteenth to seventeenth centuries, is even more impressive.

Stop at Gori to visit the ancient troglodyte city Uplistsikhe (1st millennium BC), on the famous Silk Road. In the caves, we can observe the habits and customs of the past: grain reserves, bread ovens, the basilica with three naves dug in the rock and the ancient theater.

Day 16: In the heart of the Greater Caucasus

A short transfer along the river Tergui takes us to the village of Juta (2165m). This is where we begin our trek to the rocky slopes of Mount Chaukhebi (3842m Transfer to Kazbegui through the authentic village Sno.

Day 17: Jvari and Svetiskhoveli Cathedral: UNESCO Cultural Heritage Sites


After a hike of 2h30 (round trip 6 km), visit the Trinité de Guérgueti church at 2170m. If the weather allows, we can see Mount Kazbegui (5047m). Drive south through the magnificent landscapes of the Greater Caucasus along the famous Military Road. Through the Jvari Pass (2395m), continue to Mtskheta, one of the oldest cities of Georgia where we will see the Monastery of Jvari (VI century) and Svetiskhoveli Cathedral (XI century). Svetiskhoveli is considered as one of the most sacred places in Georgia where the tunic of Jesus Christ is buried. The Djvari Monastery and the Svetiskhoveli Cathedral are part of the UNESCO Cultural Heritage.

Day 18: The wine region


Road to the region of Kakheti, known as wine region. Visit a family of local peasants (farmers) where tourists can visit the wine cellar ("marani"), 300 years old filled with the jugs ("kvevri"), which are buried in the ground. Wine tasting directly from these jugs.

Then drive to a monastic complex of Gremi where we will visit the Ethnographic Museum and King Levan's Palace. Continuation to the discovery of the whole Nekressi, with the oldest church in all Georgia - IV s. Back to Tbilisi.

Day 19: Tbilisi City Tour


Let’s begin our trip from Tbilisi Sightseeing Tour. The historic part of Georgia’s capital is located at the foot of Narikala Fortress. It charms visitors with its romantic, narrow streets, beautiful facades and picturesque sites next to each other, including Metekhi Church, Synagogue, Sioni Cathedral, Bridge of Peace, Anchiskhati Church and famous sulphur bathhouses.

Visit the National Museum, presenting the best works of Georgian arts mainly in gold and silver, objects of jewelry (closed on Mondays). Panoramic view of the city.
