This morning, explore the stunning Royal Palace complex, home to the Cambodian royal family and a symbol of the nation. Inside are some of the country's most cherished treasures, including a life-size gold Buddha studded with 9584 diamonds, the largest weighing 25 carats.

Day 3: On to Battambang via Kompong Loung

Leave Phnom Penh and travel west towards the Battambang province. On the way, visit a local pottery village, Kompong Chhnang. Come to the small town of Krakor to visit the incredible floating town of Kompong Luong, with almost 10,000 inhabitants. Next, head to the provincial capital of Pursat for lunch (at your own expense), a pleasant riverside town in central Cambodia.
