Day 4: Jokhang Temple and the Symbol of Lhasa

and the old home of the Dalai Lama...

• You discovery of Tibet begins at the Jokhang Temple!

• Built in the 7th century, it is considered the most significant religious structure for all Tibetans...

•... and many pilgrims pay homage to their faith at this sacred temple each day!

• For many years it was used as the winter residence of the Dalai Lama.

Day 5: The Sera Monastery

A place of worship, and higher learning...

• Today, trek to the Venerable Sera Monastery!• Not only a place on worship, this Monastery is also a place of higher learning

• You will have a unique opportunity to see the monks debate here!

• Continue to the second largest monastery in the world, Norbulingka: "precious stone garden".

• This is Dalai Lama's former summer residence, and currently 400 monks reside here!

Day 6: The Ancient Tibet Hub: Gyantse

• After breakfast, begin a scenic drive to Gyantse, passing by the beautiful Yamdrok Lake!

• Upon our arrival in Gyantse in the afternoon, we visit the monastery Palkhor Chode.

• It is noted for its intricate Kumbum, one of the most important monuments in Tibetan architecture...

•... It is a nine tiered stupa with 108 chapels and superb murals! 

• The Gyantse Fort located high in the mountains offers you a breathtaking view of the city.

Day 7: Continue To Shigaste

The second largest city in Tibet

• Discover the Tashilhunpo Monasteries today!

• Start with the Xialu Monastery, situated in Rikuozuo: its construction was started in 1027.

• Continue to the Tashilhunpo Monastery, the ancient residence of the Panchen Lama...

 • ... the highest ranking Tibetan monk after the Dalai Lama!

Day 8: Local Immersion with a Local Family

• You will have a unique experience today, visiting a local Tibetan's home!

• Converse with the family members, and gain a personal insight of their daily life.

Day 9: From Lhasa to Chengdu
