The French Riviera is the place perfect to enjoy the sun, the beach, and the sea. You won't have to give up on food and culture though, as the famous coastal towns of Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Nice, and Monaco has lots to offer. In Cannes, with or without the red carpet, you will be the stars of La Croisette. In Saint-Tropez, admire the contrast of the luxury yachts docked in a quaint fishing village. There is plenty to see and do in Nice, and you can spend an entire day or more to fully explore it. Board the ferry from its picturesque port for a 45-minute scenic cruise to the sovereign Principality of Monaco. The independent city-state, completely enclosed by French territory, is a fascinating mixture of traditional and ultra-modern architecture. You'll take a trip inland to the picture-perfect village of Saint Paul de Vence, one of the most beautiful villages in southern France. Its location, its narrow medieval streets, and panoramas over the valley make it a favorite.

A private driver will pick up you in several places in Nice.

Ferry between Nice and Monaco

Board the ferry in the Port of Nice for a 45-minute scenic cruise to the sovereign Principality of Monaco (9:30 am departure).

At the end of the day board again the ferry for return cruise to Nice (5:00 pm departure).

Duration: 8 hours and 30 minutes.

Suggestion: visit the Principality of Monaco

Explore Monaco, the second smallest country in the world, located between the south of France and Italy. Home to a glamorous casino, the Grand Prix and lush gardens, Monaco is full of style waiting to be discovered.

You have the whole day to discover the Principality, its museums, its monuments, its walks and, above all, its magic. During the day, you will be able to visit as you wish, coming and going from discoveries to surprises.

Visit the Casino of Monte Carlo, its gardens and the nearby Hotel de Paris. At any time of the day or the night, visitors rush around this mythical and probably the most glamorous place in the principality. Explore its fabulous architecture and its impressive rooms, where people are playing or only watching. You may take a seat at the Café de Paris’ terrace, where you chose to eat ice cream while contemplating the view around you: the casino’s gardens, the fountains, the palm trees ...

Walk through the old city, by the Cathedral and the Prince’s Palace; try to be present for the spectacular change of the guard at 11.55am. Then visit Port Hercule, with its luxury yachts and "James Bond" atmosphere, the Grand Prix circuit and the Oceanographic Museum (also known as "Temple of the Sea").

Day 6: Full day private guided tour of the perched villages on the hills surrounding Nice

The Loup valley lies in the middle of the "flower hills", a picturesque countryside where men built several villages over hundreds of years. Driving along the roads of the French Riviera is, somehow, like tasting the charms of Provence; the centuries left a perfume of eternity on every site.

Your journey will start with Haut-de-Cagnes, built around the Grimaldi castle: a staircase village which attracted many famous painters.

Facing the Mediterranean that shimmers at its feet, Saint-Paul-de-Vence leans against the southern Alps and is a must-see for art lovers with its many galleries. Saint-Paul-de-Vence is small, and also one of the most beautiful and most visited villages in France. It is best summed up by the sign at the entrance to the village itself which reads 'authentic and touristy, quiet and buzzing, Saint-Paul is proud of its paradoxes - they are the key to its charm and identity'. The beauty of this perched village has attracted many artists during the last century - starting with Modigliani on the 1920's - and it now has a very high reputation as an artistic village, as well as a place of great natural beauty. Picasso, Braque, and Miro are among the well-known artists who stayed at Saint-Paul-de-Vence.

Stop at Tourrettes-sur-Loup, a Provencal jewel that will show you another aspect of the south, its quiet little streets populated with craftsmen offering a stunning view of the surrounding scenery.

A side road will then take you to “les Courmettes”, where you can visit a goat farm for a taste of organic cheese.

The drive through the Loup Canyon, spectacular and dramatic in itself, yet doesn't compare to what the medieval village of Gourdon has to offer: perched 760 meters above the sea level, it provides a panorama over 40 kilometers of the Mediterranean Coast. Soak up the beautiful landscape!

Day 7: Explore Nice "The Beautiful"

The elegant city of Nice is set against the backdrop of the deep blue waters of the Côte d'Azur.

The completely pedestrianized Place Rossetti is the heart of the city. Surrounded by brightly colored buildings, it is adorned with a large fountain and also hosts the splendid cathedral which gives it a very French touch.

The first thing you come across in the old town is Cours Saleya, the main street with a daily flower and vegetable market (except Mondays). Here you can bargain the season’s local fruits and vegetables. In addition, there is a good selection of other local products such as lavender bags and Marseille soap in twenty different flavors.

Spend some time strolling the Port of Nice. In the morning the harbor is in the shade but in the evening when the sun shines from the west the harbor looks beautiful! The Old Harbor is a popular restaurant area so an evening in the harbor might be a good idea.

From the harbor, you can climb to the Colline du Château for great views of the city. Despite the name, there is no castle on the hill; the castle was destroyed in 1706. Instead, there is a park. From the hill, you can tell how long the beach really is stretching along Baie des Anges (“Angel Bay”) to the airport.

The beach is one of the most characteristic features of Nice and has always attracted visitors to the city. So enjoy the beach and the famous seafront boulevard Promenade des Anglais, an exceptionally wide beach promenade with palms and other trees in the middle. It follows the Mediterranean seafront for 5 km. The Promenade des Anglais was built in the early 19th century when English upper classes preferred to spend their winters in a mild climate. They built their mansions here and walked up and down the street. This is what the name comes from, the “Walkway of the English”.
