We found the destination excellent and liked the opportunity to embrace the wildlife and the history. The bungalow in the tea plantation was luxurious. We loved the view from our bedroom window in Marissa. A highlight was releasing a baby turtle into the sea.
However, the most exciting and memorable part of the trip was when we opted for fine dining by the crocodile infested lake at Yala. It was one thing to have crocs so near but another thing altogether when a huge wild boar gate crashed our dinner and ate our bread rolls. (See photo below)
