You will be welcomed by our representative who will take you to the capital city of Colombo to spend the first night in Sri Lanka.
Relax in a hotel of your choice, or explore the city on your own.
After an early breakfast you will leave Colombo to the Sinharaja Forest Reserve.
The distance is approximately 130 km and it's around 4 hours to reach this UNESCO Word Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve.
Upon arrival the local guide will decide if the weather, daylight and time are good enough for an afternoon trek through in the forest.
There are some elephants and up to 15 leopards in the park but these two species are rarely seen.
The main focus when trekking through the rainforest are the insects, amphibians, reptiles birds and small mammals.
Most species found here are protected and unique to the island.
A trekking trip through this hilly virgin rainforest is a unique experience.
You will spend the night in a hotel outside the park and you can enjoy the quiet and relaxing atmosphere of the region.
Udawalawe National Park, one of most known and visited parks of Sri Lanka, is today’s main attraction.
After breakfast you will drive towards Udawalawe.
The drive will take you through some beautiful greenery.
Once you arrive at your hotel you can freshen up and change into your safari gear as you embark on an afternoon safari in the park (around 02:30pm).
The park is known for its large herds of elephants, often brought here out of captivity or due to injury.
Of course you will find various other animals in the park, such as deer, crocodiles and a large variety of birds.
You will have the time to observe and take countless pictures.
Enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure.
After an early breakfast you will visit the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home, reknowned for taking in orphaned, injured, previously captured and worker elephants.
Here the baby elephants are rehabilitated until strong enough to be released into the wild.
Afterwards you will continue towards the hill country of Sri Lanka, Ella.
On the way you will visit the famous Buduruwagala Temple that experts believe was carved into the rocks during the 9th or 10th Century AD.
The largest of the statues is a Buddha standing at an impressive 51 feet in a stance known as the “Abhaya Mudra”.
Afterwards, you will visit the Ravana waterfalls, a beautiful sight with a sad but interesting historical background.
Your guide will explain the local folkloric story and the origin of the name.
Once you reach the hotel you can use the time remaining to relax and rest.
Today you can enjoy a late breakfast before exploring area of Ella.
First you will go to the small track path of Little Adam's Peak.
The walk will take you about 30 minutes, but once you reach the top it will definitely we worth the climb with its breathtaking views.
Upon your descent you can enjoy a delicious lunch in town; the Cafe Chill, for example, which looks more like a beach bar than a restaurant in the mountains.
Once you have refueled you will visit the famous 9 arches bridge, which is one of the most iconic bridges in Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankans also call this bridge “Ahas namaye palama” (Nine skies bridge) because of its height.
The last stop of the day will be at a beautiful tea plantation where you will get to learn a bit about how the famous Sri Lankan tea is made.
Afterwards you will return to your hotel.
Today you will breakfast before heading by train to Nuwara Eliya, also known as “Little England”.
The ride to Nuwara Eliya will take you through some beautiful greenery and tea plantations as far as the eye can see.
You will also have the chance to see some waterfalls, scattered among this breathtaking scenery.
Once you reach Nuwara Eliya you will continue towards the action packed Kithulgala.
Once in Kithulgala, you can spend the rest of the day relaxing and reflecting on your day.
Today is action-packed and full of adventure.
You will go on two exciting trips, one where you will race down the Kalani river on a white water rafting trip. This is a lot of fun!
You will get to learn how to master the rapids as you wade through the river.
After finishing your first trip you will return back to camp and refuel with a delicious lunch.
Then you will head to adventure number two, fit for all ages. You will go on a canyoning trip where you will slide and jump down the canyons surrounding the Kithulgala area and jump from one water pool to the next.
Make sure to bring sports shoes or special water proof shoes if you have. You will return back to camp and have the chance to rest for the remainder of the day or take a walk in the surrounding area.
This morning will go according to your preference.
Dig into a delicious breakfast and just take it easy.
Afterwards you will continue your drive towards the last ancient city of Sri Lanka, Kandy.
Once you arrive at the hotel you can freshen up before discovering what this city has to offer.
In the afternoon you will visit the city, including the notorious Kandy Temple, also known as "The Temple of the Tooth" because the tooth relic of the Buddha is kept there.
Once you have taken in the calm ambiance of the temple, you will be taken to see the lively traditional Kandyan dance performance.
Today, you will visit the famous Peradeniya Botanical Garden.
Take a stroll through the beautiful greenery and learn about the different plant species found across the island of Sri Lanka.
This is a great way to start your morning.
Continue your journey towards the cultural triangle of this small island.
You will have the opportunity to visit one of the many spice gardens to learn about the different spices found on the island, and how they are used.
You can also visit a batik factory where you will get to see how the famous batik fabric of Sri Lanka are made.
Afterwards you will continue towards Sigiriya.
En route you will visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most famous cave complexes filled with magnificent Buddha Images and colourful Rock Paintings and shapes.
Today you will travel to Polonnaruwa, one of Sri Lanka's ancient cities.
The highlight of Polonnaruwa is the Gal Vihara Rock Sculptures where an unknown 12th century sculptor carved three giant figures of the Buddha as well as a chapel into a granite cliff-face.
Lunch will be served at the Priyamali Gedera Restaurant on the shores of the giant Parakrama Samudraya, the Island's largest manmade reservoir.
After lunch you will return to Sigiriya.
Late afternoon you will visit the Sigiriya Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site also known as "The Lion's Rock".
It is regarded by many as an architectural wonder of the world.
Once you reach the plateau you are faced with breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
Today you will head to your booked beach hotel where you can lay back and enjoy the beach, flicking through all the pictures that you have taken thus far on your travels in Sri Lanka.
Today you can do as you please.
Start with a delicious breakfast and then a relaxing swim in the Indian Ocean.
Relax under the Sri Lankan sun.
Through the hotel you can always book any excursion to the nearby areas if you want to discover a bit of the Eastern Coast.
Today is your last full day at the beach. Take in as much sun as possible before heading home.
After breakfast you can take one more dip before being picked up by your driver and heading towards the Western part of Sri Lanka, Negombo.
The drive will take you about 6 hours, so just relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery as you pass some widely known cultural sights and of course the beautiful nature of Sri Lanka.
Once you arrive in Negombo you can just relax, and if you wish do some last minute shopping for family and friends back home here's your chance!
