Day 1: Arrival In Venezuela And Transfer To The Andes

Your international flight arrives and then, you’ll take a national flight to El Vigia. Your luggage arrives in Caracas at the international lobby, and you'll get them back after coming out of the plane. After you’ve passed the customs control, you must follow the “Transit flights” sign. Once you’re in the national hall, you’ll proceed to do your new check-in. Count 10 minutes in order to go from the international hall to the national one. Our driver will pick you up at the airport of El Vigia, and take you directly to your Posada in Mérida city (1h30 - 2h).

Day 2: Lightning’s Observation In An atypical Village On Stilts

Departure at 08:00 AM by car, along with your guide, you’ll be driven from Mérida to Jaji: a perfectly restored colonial village where you’ll find handcrafted items. The road twists around the mountains through some lush vegetation and beautiful waterfalls. After some stops to enjoy the astonishing views, we'll head to the Azulita village and visit the "Los Piratas" cave. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy a typical lunch at a small restaurant.

​Back on the road in the afternoon, you’ll be driven to Puerto Concha (02h30 ride), this is the departure point of your boat excursion. You will have the chance to observe monkeys and toucans at this well-protected place. After sailing amongst dolphins for about two hours on Maracaibo lake, you’ll lay out on hans made hammocks, which hang from a stilt house, close to Congo mirador. The night will probably be unforgettable as lightning strikes cover the sky in complete silence: an almost unique phenomenon that occurs over 180 days a year!

Day 3: Discovery Of Maracaibo Lake And Night In A Refuge

Departure at 08:00 AM for you to visit the village of Congo mirador, along with your guide. This is an atypical place where the fire station, the church and the schools are built on stilts; students have to get through the water in order to reach their classrooms. You can also enjoy visiting the small channels and observe a multitude of butterflies and birds species such as herons and Jappins. Back to Puerto Concha (by boat) at midday (2h of navigation) you’ll take your lunch at a small local restaurant. Then we’ll continue our trip, travelling across the Andean villages (250km, 05h00 ride) and the valley of Mérida. The road gets narrower during the course of the curves and becomes a breathtakingly high trail until you arrive at Los Nevados. Night at 2500m height!

Day 4: Discovery Of Small Villages In The Andes

This day starts with a charming morning in the Andean slopes. Along with your guide, you’ll discover the great Andean landscapes, by foot or by mule, and visit the surroundings of the typical village of Los Nevados. You will enjoy the hospitality of its inhabitants and the incredible serenity of this magical place. Lunch at 12:00 PM with your local family, then back to Mérida through the local transport, by taking the breathtakingly high trail (60km, 03h00 ride).

Day 5: Crossing From The Andes To The Llanos Plains

Departure at 08:00 AM from Merida to the Mantecal Llanos. During the morning, you will cross the Andes and go to Barinas, through a path that reaches the 3500m height at its highest point (134 km, 03h30). Several stops are planned and a 2 hours hike may take place through the mountain lakes and pine forests (depending on time schedule and weather conditions). After a lunch meal of "Carne en vara" (Llanos cow meat), we’ll enter into Los Llanos planes, a territory as big as France territory, where we’ll begin to observe many species of birds and alligators on the road that leads us to our camp (350km, 03h30 ride). By the end of the afternoon, a local family will welcome you.

Day 6: Caimans And wildlife observation

After a generous breakfast, we will begin the tour by a boat safari on one of the most well preserved rivers of the Llanos. Alligators, red ibis, white and black storks "Jabiru" kingfishers, herons, eagles, turtles, dolphins and "Danta" may be seen at this point. Return to your camp for an outdoor meal. The afternoon will be dedicated to a 4*4 safari, the roof of the car is settled for you with a panoramic view of 360°. The night ends with the capture of an alligator and the observation of wild "anteaters".

Day 7: Anaconda Search, Horse Riding And Piranha Fishing

After having your breakfast, you'll ride a horse to get into the savannah. This is the best way to approach wild animals on a close perspective. Although, if you prefer, you can also discover the savannah by foot. Return to your camp for an outdoor meal. The afternoon will be devoted to searching and fishing anacondas and piranhas. You will enjoy the piranhas you captured for dinner!

Day 8: Transfer By Plane From The Llanos To Caracas

Morning transfer from your local family's house (8:00 AM) to Barinas by road (350km; 3h30 ride) where you will have lunch. Then, transfer to Barinas' airport for you to take the only available flight in the evening between Barinas and Caracas. After having arrived in Caracas, look for the international hall by crossing the door number 11 at the national hall (follow the arrow signs). Your driver can be found beneath the giant screen at the international arrivals hall. He will be waiting for you while holding a banner with the name "Catimar" - “Hotel Villa Playa Grande” on it. If you do not find your driver immediately because there are too many people at the arrivals hall, don’t worry! Ask "Catimar" - “Hotel Villa Playa Grande” to any of the people holding hotel signs under the giant screen and the staff will indicate you the place where your driver is waiting for you.

Day 9: Discovery Day At Ciudad Bolivar's Colonial Downtown

While arriving at your hotel the day before, you will show up at the reception counter and tell them the departure time of your domestic flight for this day, so you may agree on the time of departure of your hotel-airport taxi. Then, you must register yourself in your domestic flight to Puerto Ordaz at Caracas airport's lobby. When you arrive there, a driver will pick you up at the airport and take you to your Posada in Ciudad Bolívar (01h00; 100km ride). During the afternoon, you will take a rest in Ciudad Bolivar, a colonial city alongside the Orinoco river. We encourage you to visit by yourself (not included), the city’s downtown and try some fresh fish in one of the small restaurants next to the fish market.

Day 10: Discover The Canaima Lagoon And Its Waterfalls

Departure at 07:00 AM from your Posada to Ciudad Bolívar’s airport (15min). The next thing you'll be doing will be boarding your flight to Canaima (1h15 flight; 10kg max./pers). At your arrival in Canaima, you’ll be free for the rest of the morning. Lunch at your camp at Canaima village. In the afternoon, boat trip across the Canaima lagoon along the Ucaima, Wadaima and Hacha waterfalls. Visit of the Anatoly island. Hike across the river island to the “Playita” (small beach), where you can swim and discover the “Sapo” (frog) and “Sapito” (small frog) waterfalls. Time of the visit: about 2h (1h walking) and a great swimming break at the base of the Canaima waterfalls.

Day 11: Nautical Expedition To The Salto Angel Waterfall

In the morning, transfer by small track to the little port of Ucaima. From here, a four hour boat trip will begin on 'Carrao' and 'Churrun' rivers, which will lead you to the 'Ratón' island. Then, you will reach the banks of the Angel falls waterfalls. Afterwards, you will cross some rapids where you may be asked to disembark in order to facilitate the navigation.

Day 12: Angel Falls Walk Then Back To Canaima

Early in the morning, in order to see the Angel Falls at sunrise, we will have to leave the camp at night and walk 01h30 (be careful: there are a lot of roots and the track may be difficult to walk through) to arrive at the foot of the highest waterfall in the world! Note: this walk is often done the day before at the end of the afternoon -only if you arrived early enough to the camp base-. Return to our camp by foot (1h walk in the woods), then return to the Canaima lagoon after a 4h. Boat trip. Flight back to Ciudad Bolivar (at the end of the morning or at the beginning of the afternoon) and transfer to your posada in Ciudad Bolívar.

Day 13: Excursion In The Orinoco Delta

Departure from Ciudad Bolivar to San Jose de Buja at 06:30 am (250Km, 03h30 ride) by car. From here, we start our boat trip by passing through the canals of the delta, until the moment when we reach our camp (1h of navigation). This is a surprising and comfortable camp that gives you the possibility to sleep in individual rooms in the heart of the mangrove. Lunch at the camp (sort of buffet lunch). During the afternoon, you’ll make a trip by canoe through the canals, accompanied by native guides that will teach you the Waraos community traditions. On the agenda: observation of dolphins, butterflies, parrots and an appetizer in the boat while observing the sunset.

Day 14: Meeting With Warao Native Tribe

In the morning, after a generous breakfast, you’ll leave the camp by foot, dressed with plastic boots, in order to visit the typical mangrove forest along with your native guide. This is an astonishing experience where you’ll learn how the natives live in such a hostile nature. Return to our camp for a well-deserved meal before you begin the piranha fishing adventure. You’ll have the pride to taste your captured fishes for diner.

Day 15: Walk Through The Mangroves

New excursion devoted to discover a Waraos community. After this visit, you will get to know a bit better about the interaction between our modern world and the traditional life of the Waraos. Along with your guide, you’ll be able to understand the positive and negative impact of these interactions. You’ll find some handicraft items; furthermore, the natives will teach you the fabrication of artisanal products. Return to San Jose de Buja in the afternoon then transfer by car to Mochima (300Km, 04h30). It is a maritime park; your posada is very near to the sea and will allow you to enjoy the most of this beautiful Caribbean location.

Day 16: Beaches On The Caribbean Coast and Dolphin Observation

This day, you'll have the opportunity to discover the Caribbean sea and its many dolphins and sea birds. You can organize an excursion (not included in the price) with your Posada in order to reach the "Piscina" island. Here, you can practice snorkelling and observe the preserved coral reef. Your posada will be able to prepare a fresh dish barbecue, directly on the beach. If you want to follow this example of program, you must anticipate 30Euros/pers/day.

Day 17: Beaches On The Caribbean Coast And Dolphin Observation

This day, you can organize an excursion (not included in the price) with your Posada in order to go to the "Caracas" island. This isolated and unoccupied island will amaze you, as the only sound you’ll here will be the wave motion. Your posada will be able to prepare a fresh dish barbecue, directly on the beach. Day 18: Transfer To The Colonial Town Of Choroni

Transfer by the road from your posada to Barcelona's airport (1h30; 50km ride) where you will wait until taking your national flight to Caracas. A driver will meet you at the airport in order to take you directly to Maracay. Afterwards, you'll take the steep mountain road that will lead you to the colonial town of Choroni (4-5h; 220km ride).

Day 19: ​Choroní Bay

Free day at the edge of Choroní bay, the purest state of relaxation. Your posada is located in the heart of the small colonial village of Puerto Colombia (Choroni). Optionally (not included in the price), you can arrange a boat trip in a fishing boat for you to visit the little island of Cepe (up to 30euro/person for a day trip).

Day 20: Chuao Island Or Henri Pittier National Park

This day, you can either organize an excursion with your Posada in order to go to the "Chuao" island and see the cocoa/coffee plantations; or you can also arrange a trekking excursion to the famous Henri Pittier national park (not included in the price, up to 30euro/person for a day trip to Chuao or Henri Pittier national park).

Day 21: Back To The Airport For You To Take Your International Flight

Transfer by the road from Choroni to Caracas airport (4-5h; 220km ride). Once you get there, you’ll be able to get on board of your international flight. We recommend you to be at the check-in counter of your international flight with 5h of anticipation.
